Couch Park

(For those not from Portland, that is pronounced  cooch park, and is not named after furniture.) During the girls' acting class on Fridays, we get time to play with Amarra and do something special for her. This week it was actually not raining so the four of us took a leisurely stroll (okay, so Dash rode while eating my shirt) up to Starbucks (Thought of you, Heather, as we passed the Lee Apts.) and hung out there for a bit before walking back down to the playground where Amarra ran Joel ragged and I followed them around, thoroughly entertained.  Amarra may be quiet, but she is fearless, and a little bit crazy. (Daring, with a slightly dark sense of humor, I must say!)  We all had a great time!  Then we went to go pick up her sisters, and she got to make them a little bit jealous. :) Good times!

Hair Store!

Wanna get your hair done?  Well just stop by Elora's Hair Store any time! (unless, of course, the sign on the chair says "clothes". We had a little mix-up about what word she was trying to spell.) When she grows up, Elora would like to do hair and makeup. (But not like some stylist...can't figure out who she's talking about...Elora doesn't like "how she styles".) Her shop is open regularly and her hair styles are........uniqe. Daring, even.  So live a little! Come on by!

Rainy Day at the Zoo

Friday afternoon we headed out for a rainy day picnic at the zoo. It was Dashiell's first time in the stroller (you can tell he wasn't sure what to think of it at first, but then he seemed to like it as long as it kept moving at all times), so everyone wanted a turn pushing it. We headed to all of the warmer exhibits (African Rainforest, African Savannah, etc.) for little warm breaks from the rain and had a picnic under cover in the middle of the African exhibits. It was so fun to have about 10 people in the zoo and get it basically to ourselves! When we were heading out of the zoo we got to the sea lions just as the trainers were calling them out of the water, and we got the watch  sea lions perform (we were watching the lion named Gus) and do tricks as the trainers gave them a physical exam. Every good behavior got rewarded with a fishy treat. It was a lot of fun to watch!

Acting Classes

Seleia and Elora have officially been cast in The True Story of Little Red in there play lab at Northwest Children's Theater. Seleia, as Deer, has the opening line in the play and pals around primarily with Bear, who will be played by the lovely Danielle (who can be seen atop the brass pig with the girls in the column on the right). Elora, the smallest girl in the class, will be Squirrel.  She tends to say "Woff" when talking to the Wolf, and I'm not sure I want to correct her. So no we've added going over lines to our daily routine for the next eight weeks until their performance on March 11th. (And they've got the first song in the play stuck in my head from singing it constantly!)

Fabric Giveaway

Where women Create, a gorgeous blog btw, is giving away 5 yards of Jennifer Paganelli's fabrics from Sis Boom!!  Read her story and enter the giveaway here!

Re- Runs

Here she is....Diana Prince, defending Stalag Thirteen!

Yes, we watched a lot of Hogan's Heroes and Wonder Woman on dvd while we were sick! ( We were joking about the playtime combination of the shows in the girls' imagination, but then noticed that Ivan Dixon from HH actually directed some episodes of W W...we were amused.)

Blush and Bashful

Just an every day scene from around the house. The Princess Pirate reading of Narnia to Captain Hook, who chose to sport a Hello Kitty backpack. (Elora aka One Eyed Louie was in the other room at the moment, but you get the idea....)

The Hat

Elora has this hat. She really is quite proud of it. She loves to tell about how they gave it to her, free, when she went with Dad to Napa Auto Parts. It is a NASCAR hat, and I can't believe it's in my house. Elora looooves to share this hat with Dash, and was determined to get a picture of him wearing it. Above, you see the results of that endeavor. He really is a good sport!

A Christmas Carol

To celebrate finally getting some snow, we spent the evening watching the 2010 Doctor Who Christmas special, A Christmas Carol. (Now, again, we're frustrated by having no more Doctor to watch!) This was a landmark evening as it was the first time the girls got to actually watch an episode (most are too scary ...a few even too scary for me! Don't blink!). It was a big event at the Juhala household! My favortie comment? Elora: "He talks too much.  Just like me!"  The girls knew what the TARDIS was, but finally saw that it really is bigger on the inside, and they learned that bow ties. are. cool.

Singing Christmas Tree

Okay, Dad, this should give you a better idea! This picture was taken from the balcony (which makes the tree look tiny! There are just under 100 people on it.) But there we are on this side as Mary and Joseph. I couldn't help myself, I kept singing along even from the stable.
