Library Cards!

The kiddos went to the library last week... without Mama. Let me just say that I am always the one that takes them to the library and that I can count on one hand the number of times we've dragged Daddy-o along. So, when I was sick and couldn't come along, guess what else didn't go?  My library card. I've been trying to talk Miss Seleia into getting one for a while now (she wanted to work on her penmanship first), so this was her big moment.

And apparently it was Joels' big moment, too.

Now, when we married Joel was never much of a reader. He definitely enjoys reading now..he's just not quite as voracious as I am when it comes to devouring books. (Yes, I have to actually ground myself from reading sometimes so that things I need to accomplish, well, get accomplished.  I'm currently grounded.) I had no idea, though, that he had never had his own library card. I've had them in 7 or 8 states, for crying out loud. At least. I can still remember what my very first library card looked like...I was so proud! Sometimes he'll pick up material I have on hold, but he always just takes my card to do it. So.  Daddy stepped up and, along with Seleia, got his very own library card.

And Seleia's first book? Encyclopedia Brown.

That's my girl!

Real Men Wear Babies

For those of you who may not know, my stroller does not get much use. My wraps, slings, and carriers however, I simply could not live without. When Joel is out with us he gladly takes a turn wearing our (not so) little man, especially when I am tired. I love it. Yes, I miss having the baby close to me, but I get all googly (I don't even care if that is an actual word) over the sight of my men hanging out together, or over how sweet Daddy is when his mini-me falls asleep on him. I have wraps in manly colors....chocolate brown, navy blue...but Joel doesn't even bat an eyelash if what I have with me at the time happens to be covered in flowers. Now that is a real man.

Happy Birthday Joel!

I love my husband! Today we get to celebrate this wonderful man. The girls were so excited...they handmade some gifts and painted some pictures for his locker at work and planned to get up early and surprise him with these while I made birthday waffles for breakfast. (They snuck in early this morning, "Mom, don't forget Daddy's birthday!") Now everyone is working hard to help me make a "turkey feast" for dinner, when we will celebrate with wonderful friends. They cake is ready, the gifts are being wrapped.....the excitement is contagious as the princesses prepare to celebrate King Daddy. Happy, happy birthday, Joel!  We love you!

A Little Love

Tulips are my favorite flower. My favorite kind of tulip? The kind Joel surprises me with! I was down with a cold this week and my sweet husband came home with these lovely flowers, a latte (just what I wanted! have to keep up with the kiddos!) and a box of tissue. If that isn't love, I don't know what is!

Baby Laughs

Dashiell looooves his Daddy. (I'm pretty sure that the feeling is mutual.) I love to walk in on those two just chatting away and laughing with each other. They are already great buddies, and I look forward to years of little man traipsing around imitating Daddy, learning how to be a big man someday. I'm filled with joy and gratitude every time I hear my two favorite men deep in conversation. For now, though, I'm quite content that my little man stay, well, little.
