Little Moments

Sometimes it's the little things that really warm my heart. Those moments you happen to see as you walk past a room, those conversations you hear off to the side while only half paying attention. I sometimes get caught up in the rigamarole of the day; the running around, the to-do list, the things that so easily steal my attention. Then, in the middle of doing 5 things at once, I walk by the living room and see a sleepy Dashiell, sitting on his sister's lap, snuggling up, and holding her hands as they watch a few minutes of Kipper until dinner is ready. Just a simple, sweet act of love that otherwise might go unnoticed. But it stopped me in my tracks, and as I heaved a little sigh I just had to take a picture. Because the simplest, smallest of moments...they really are the ones worth remembering. They're the ones that matter.

Random Funny

So not only does this depict how men and women feel about color, but life in general....now if only there were a way to graph how women feel about the color...
Confuse geeks wherever you roam with this awesome trek wars tee shirt. (busted tees)

Because, well, we all needs more mugs. (They really need a sarcasm font, no?) But a mug with attitude that holds your doughnut for you?  Well, that's just genius in ceramic form. (Source:laughing squid)

Now THIS leash almost makes me want to get a dog. (Source:laughing squid)

Tulips!

Spring is...trying. We're hoping for a bit of sun this weekend as we head to the Tulip Festival! For now, though, if I want a bit of sunshine I have to create it myself! Tulips are my favorite flower....so inviting, with a promise of things to come as they slowly change from a shy little flower to a lovely, open work of art. (Side note: Elora will be playing the part of Pinky the Tulip in her upcoming play Finding Spring and was ecstatic to be cast as Mama's favorite flower!) Every time I walk past these flowers my spirits get a little lift and I can almost feel the sunshine coming.  Almost.

So Fortunate

This morning I felt a bit, well....annoyed.  Four loud, fidgety kids and more rain! Then, a split second later it hit me: I'm surrounded by four amazing children I love more than life itself and we have a lovely, warm, dry roof over our heads. I've got a delicious cup of coffee in front of me and get to start preparations for my loving husband's birthday tomorrow. Next month we'll have been married 9 years! He has, after a long and difficult season of unemployment, a new job which he loves and we're so grateful for! I told Amarra that I loved her the other day and she sighed at me and rolled her eyes, "Mommmm, I KNOW. You tell me EVERY DAY."  I could not help but laugh. I love my family and am so thankful for them, and I'm pretty sure they like me alright, too. I've got a new yarn project I'm working on for Joel...I am always brought a piece of joy and comfort when I pick up my knitting or crocheting, I simply can't help it! My Little Man is healthy and growing after such a rough start and some bumps along the way. I have amazing and wonderful friends to support me...........The list could go on and on and on. What it all boils down to is that I am so fortunate. I am so blessed. And when the little things start to get to me all I need to do is look around to realize what I've got and, suddenly, I am so thankful.

More Simple Pleasures

Nothing gives me a little slice of happy quite like being able to sit here in the Northwest and sip a steaming cup of goodness from my ceramic NYC coffee cup. I feel like I'm walking into the deli to grab an egg & cheese on a roll with my coffee as I head off to work on a cool, crisp morning...without actually having to leave my house or go to work! Thanks, Mimi!

A Few Simple Pleasures

Against the grayest of gray and dreary skies, a few bright and early blossoms bring the promise of  Spring approaching!!
An odd little pleasure, but every time I pull a cooking utensil out of the antique 3 gallon crock Joel bought me last year I get a little smile on my face.  I love the thing.
Since temporarily giving up caffeine (*gasp*) I find myself drinking 90 to 100 cups of decaffeinated English Breakfast Tea every day.  I get to use my little tea pot, a past Valentine's Day gift from Joel, all day long. I love the steaming little tea pot, the warm and delicious tea, and the constant reminder of my husband's affection. It doesn't get better than that!
